Course Title: Enhancing Participation for Children and Adults with Medical Complexity Across the Lifespan

Course Description:
Because children and adults with medical complexity demonstrate chronic and multiple health conditions, functional limitations, participation restrictions, and are high utilizers of healthcare, they can be challenging for pediatric physical therapists to assess, identify physical therapy priorities, optimize functional abilities, and encourage participation. To address this challenge, this course will provide a method of individually defining children and adults with medical complexity that will assist with optimizing and prioritizing meaningful physical therapy services. Activity and participatory-level assessments, participatory goals and therapeutic strategies will be reviewed. Note: This course is a brief summary of lengthier courses from APTAC 2020 and APTAC 2021.
