Title: Be The Change You Want To See - APTA PA’s “ADAPT” Scholarship Updates

Course Description: In the Fall of 2021, APTA PA awarded the very first “ADAPT” scholarship to four schools in Pennsylvania, totaling up to $30,000. This monetary award was provided to PT or PTA education programs to support the development of programs that aim to increase the recruitment and enrollment of students from underrepresented racial and ethnic minority groups (URMG). Addressing the gap in diversity within the physical therapy profession is an established priority of the APTA at both the national and state levels. Data shows we lack enough diverse clinicians to effectively serve many patient populations and these numbers are even starker within our profession’s leadership ranks. A sustainable and effective professional future requires the removal of this clear barrier to health equity. Come learn more about ways you can increase diversity in your programs. We will be joined by Dr. Gregory Hicks, PT, Ph.D., FAPTA, the creator of the ADAPT Program at the University of Delaware, which inspired this scholarship.
