Title: Mechanical Diagnosis & Treatment for the Extremities

Course Description:  This course will provide the learner with a brief overview of mechanical diagnosis and treatment principles and the application of evaluation and treatment principles related to upper and lower extremity disorders once spinal origin has been ruled out.  The course will also include a scoping review of the literature, including, but not limited to, the reliability of the MDT system and its effectiveness in differentially diagnosing and treating extremity pain and dysfunction. Medical professionals, including physical therapists, should expect to achieve enhanced clinical reasoning skills for patients with or without a referral.

More Information About the Speakers:  Dr. Bays received his Bachelor of Arts in Exercise Science from Kean University, his Master of Science in Physical Therapy from Marymount University, and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from Arcadia University. He is Board-Certified in Orthopedic Physical Therapy and has received Certification in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy from the McKenzie Institute. 

Dr. Bays focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic and spine disorders and emphasizes a hands-on and active patient-centered approach to treatment.  He has served as adjunct faculty for Arcadia University in the DPT program. He is currently the Associate Director of the St. Luke’s University Health Network Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency program.
