Title: Practical Application of the Concussion/Mild Traumatic Brain Injury Clinical Practice Guidelines presented by Anne Galgon, PT, MPT, PhD and Wendy Webb Schoenewald, PT, OCS

Course Description:
This webinar will take a pragmatic approach to discuss the Concussion/Mild traumatic Brain Injury Clinical Practice Guideline (CPG), published in the Journal of Orthopedic and Sports Physical therapy, in April of 2020. The speakers will discuss the evidence presented CPG to support the recommendations and algorithms, how to use of the CPG in clinical practice, limitations of the CPG, and need for future research in the rehabilitation of individuals with prolong symptoms after concussion. Case study examples will be used to apply the algorithms presented in the CPG.

More About the Speakers:
Anne K. Galgon PT, MPT, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Physical Therapy Department at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Her primary areas of teaching are in neuroscience, movement sciences and the clinical management of neuromuscular disorders. Anne received her Masters in Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University in 1987 and Doctorate in Movement Sciences from Drexel University in 2009. The focus of her doctoral work was in motor learning within the postural control system. Her current research focuses on the physical therapy management of balance, vestibular related conditions, and concussion with an emphasis on understanding role of clinical decision making on patient outcomes. Anne has been a Clinical Specialist in Neurologic Physical Therapy since 1998 and has advanced training in Vestibular Rehabilitation. Anne also has contributed to physical therapy practice in her leadership roles as the vice chair and current Chair of the Vestibular Special Interest Group of the Academy of Neurologic Physical Therapy of the APTA.

Wendy Webb Schoenewald, PT, OCS, is the owner of WWS Physical Therapy and Vestibular Rehabilitation which began in 1999 and is located in Doylestown, PA. She has developed a successful growing private outpatient practice with a niche in vestibular rehabilitation and concussion care. She has been involved in teaching Vestibular Rehabilitation to other physical therapists at the annual APTA Herdmann and Clendaniel Vestibular Competency Certification course for many years and lectures locally on vestibular rehabilitation and concussion management for PTs, MDs, PA-Cs, and CR NPs. Wendy has been an Orthopedic Certified Clinical Specialist since 2005 with recertification completed in 2015. She lectures locally on care of the Post Concussive Syndrome patients. Her practice is presently involved in a clinical trial with Temple University for the treatment of lateral canal BPPV. With over 35 years physical therapy field Wendy has worked with a wide range of diagnoses in hospital outpatient aquatic and home settings she has extensive postgraduate training in orthopedics and vestibular rehabilitation.
