Education Course Title: Current Concepts Regarding Pain Science and Biology presented by Dr. Jonathan Ulrich | Want to know more about current pain theory and how that applies to work with your patients? This is the right place for you!

Course Description:
This 1-hour lecture is designed to provide an update for practicing clinicians on current concepts of the science and the biology of pain. Clinicians will receive an overview of the history of the theory of pain, followed by a dialogue on the current theory of how pain functions in the human body. A more in-depth discussion about the biology and neuroscience will allow the registrant to appreciate the complexity of the processing of pain. Lastly, the influence of psychological states upon pain will be explored.

More About the Speaker:
Jonathan received his Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science in 2005 and his Masters in Physical Therapy in 2006 from Northeastern University. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2017. He has spent the majority of his career primarily in outpatient orthopedics and sports medicine. He did spend 3 of his first few years doing travel PT in the acute care, inpatient rehab, and SNF settings. He moved into academia (and to Erie!) in 2018 to pursue his dream of teaching DPT students, which he has been fortunate to do at Gannon University. He is a COMT through Maitland and a ABPTS Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. He currently maintains a PRN position at UPMC Hamot. He is also very active within the KnightAbility Physical Therapy Clinic at Gannon University, which is the pro bono clinic on campus. He has been married to his wife, Kathy, since 2010. They have two wonderful daughters, Madeline and Cecilia, and their coonhound, Jeter. He is a very big scholastic/collegiate wrestling fan and tries to make it to the big matches whenever he can. He enjoys watching the Yankees during the baseball seasons and the Lions during football season.
