Room 141 600 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh PA 15282 Hosted by the South West District Participants will review the principles of experience-dependent neural plasticity to help guide clinical decisions regarding physical therapy interventions for individuals with neurological impairments, activity impairments and participation restrictions. Emphasis will include examples of specific interventions for individuals that both address and incorporate these principles with various neurological impairments. Participants will learn about how identify opportunities for clinical research that ultimately aims to achieve the highest potential for functional mobility for those individuals with a neurological injury. Speaker: Dr. Jordana Lockwich earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and completed her PhD in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Kentucky in 2021. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Duquesne University. Dr. Lockwich is the course coordinator for the DPT clinical neurology rehabilitation curriculum and serves as the Assistant Director of Clinical Education. Dr. Lockwich has over 12 years of experience as a provider of neurological therapy in an inpatient rehabilitation setting and still practices at Encompass Rehabilitation hospital in Sewickley, PA. Her research interests include providing exercise opportunities in the community to improve functional mobility potential for those individuals living with neurological impairments.
