March 2023 - PTA Focus

By: Cassie Anderson, PTA

I have been practicing as a PTA for 6 years at East Suburban Sports Medicine Center. I started working in the clinic in 2014 as a technician. I then graduated from the Community College of Allegheny College in 2016 and started my PTA journey following.  I have recently become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist and I am excited and looking forward to advancing my career and helping patients with lymphedema.

When I finished my education at Robert Morris University in 2014, I was unsure what was next. I knew I wanted to make a difference in people's lives, and I always enjoyed helping people get better physically so they could return to normal activities of daily living, sports, and overall ability. That’s why I decided to become a PTA. As a PTA I feel it is one of the most rewarding careers.

My typical day can depend on my caseload. However, I see many different patients with many different conditions. I enjoy getting to know my patients on a personal level as well as keeping it professional and helping them reach their goals.

Outside of working as a PTA, I am a cheerleading coach for a competitive program and a local high school team. I also enjoy staying active and spending time with friends and family.
